Hello, I’m Olga Kamshitskaya, a Gestalt therapist.
I didn’t come to this profession right away — it happened after many years of my own therapy. It works, even though I don’t fully understand how, but it brings relief. To figure out how it works, I joined a basic Gestalt therapy training. I can’t help but think of those memes about what a psychologist does if their head gets cut off. That’s right — they keep studying :) Such is the reality of this profession: the human psyche is endlessly fascinating, even if often illogical.
It’s also important to define the limits of my competence:
I don’t work with children, adolescents, or individuals actively using substances — only after five years in a 12-step program. If you have a psychiatric diagnosis, I work in collaboration with a psychiatrist.
For 15 years, I taught English, and now I facilitate peer groups (intervision) for therapists who want to practice in English. I myself work in both languages, live in Espoo, and offer sessions both online and in person.
Building a trusting relationship is essential in psychotherapy, so I offer a free 15-minute introductory consultation. I know how scary the first step can be — you’re very welcome here.
I invite you to therapy. You can find my specializations in the “Education” section, but I’ll briefly outline them here:
1) If you feel confused, numb, or going through a personal crisis. 2) If relationships bring you suffering, don’t work out, and you feel tired of being alone. 3) If you want to get to know yourself, to explore parts of your personality that feel contradictory or taboo. 4) If you often experience fear, anxiety, or despair. 5) If you’ve lost a loved one, moved to a new country, or are going through any other kind of loss. 6) If your sexual life doesn’t bring you satisfaction.
